Repeater Firmware 2.8.n

Postby Firebuff880 » Mon Apr 02, 2018 7:07 pm

If you have Wireline data active it is not a good idea to upgrade to 2.8.anything on the repeaters..

Wait for 2.9

You would think they would test things like that before releasing it...

You'd think but looking at the twisted history of APX firmware the "testers" were PS agencies and others like me. "Here's new firmware with new features" they say, only to totally break things that worked before.

This constant messup on both CPS and firmware on both the trbo and the apx lines is just embarrassing. sooner or later a bad piece of code will get out and brick a pile of radios or worse contollers. Then the s**t will hit the fan.

I understand that not every configuration of hardware can be tested but some of the modes are very simple and should not affect the rest of the code. I am starting to think its their compiler and its not properly handling edits and readdressing the entry/return points. Either that or the software guy is not properly compiling his edits.

I've had a lot of powersupply failures on MTR3000's lately. Sending them to depot is cheaper than ordering a new power supply but when the repeater comes back, it'll have the latest firmware on it which at that point...forces me to physically upgrade an entire Connect Plus system.

So connect plus is a whole different headache. Still trying to get the necessary wireshark traces to determine if there is a network or simular firmware issue there. We are seeing ack packets not getting back to subscribers so data packets keep repeating every n seconds. Only change we are aware of was XRC, XRT, Repester firmware between working an not working. But trying to get all our ducks in a row before opening this case.....

Wireline MNIS / 2.8.5 fix is to get downgrade build from support and take the repeaters to 2.7.n

Downgrade firmware is usually available for dealers when needed.

When I called support services to try and get back to 2.7...we are sorry, there is no way to downgrade frimware on MTR3000s.
