Motorola Mic RMN5052

Postby ASRM » Wed Jun 14, 2017 5:56 pm

I know the RMN5052 is for the XPR5200 series, but wondered if it would also work on a XTL1500?

I ask because it's a smaller microphone as opposed to the regular Potato Masher style/size the XTL1500 and 2500's use.

Motorola Solutions doesn't list any other radios but the XPR.

Wife has very small hands and complains that it's to big to get her hands around (no rhetorical please)

I bet it will work. Can't confirm because I've never tried but other XPR mics that I've had worked on an XTL also.

Thanks Falcon, for the price I guess it's worth a try. Seems eBay or Amazon sell them at a low enough price. If other XPR's work than I am with it should work.

I would be curious to know as well. I've heard of some people going the other way and having audio quality issues. Let us know what you find out.

The mic will work fine on the XTL. I have a few in the field for the exact reason ASRM is asking about.

I'm lazy and often test customer's XTL and APX's with these instead of getting the proper mic out of the pickup (don't know why I have one in my pickup since my XTL has a W9).

I got the mic in the other day, tested it and works fine :)

I should add it seems to have the same audio quality as the regular XTL mics. Sadly the next day had a PA fail on the Quantar so running Analog until my replacement arrives next week to go back to P25. I have grown to love the quality of P25 and now despise the way analog sounds

So now Happy Wife, Happy Life :) :)
