Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

So my vendor called Motorola to check on the SL300 radios, and no, they are not Cap+ capable (any more). I told him to have Motorola fix the false advertising on their website as it does show Cap+ compatibility.

Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

Ok, so if I want 2 repeaters connected to each other at the same location (sitting in the same rack), so that they provide 4 concurrent talk-paths, and allocate those talk-paths dynamically, on-demand, (so I don't have to assign the different talk groups statically to one of 4 talk-paths), how is th...

Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

So in regards to the SL300 radios, one of my (potential) vendors is telling me that it's not Cap + compatible, that's why they didn't bring that into the quote. Can somebody confirm or un-confirm that? If that's really true, then the EVX261 and the SL300 would give me the same basic options and not ...

Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

Finally a good and clear explanation of what Capacity Plus really does for me. Thank you! I already had a good grip on the Time slot 1 and 2 concept, but those being assigned statically or dynamically was not clear before. So you say, there could be 3 or 4 repeaters for this. Can I do this setup wit...

Re: Improve coverage

I've done BDA for cell phones before so I understand the basic concept: 1 roof antenna where signal is good, connected to an amplifier in some closet, from where, you run coax and install some dome antenna(s) where needed. In fact, this is already in place in that specific building for cell phones. ...

Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

The geography of the setup is a downtown area of about half a mile radius. 10 buildings, anywhere between 5 to 12 story tall. There is a warehouse out 4 miles from all this, which is one big flat building. When I had a test repeater set up and the main campus, I was able to use the xpr7550 test radi...

Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

So, the S24 radio looks like a Toys 'R Us radio. Doesn't look very solid or professional. The SL300 or 3500 is more promising, and the SL300 is even in the same price range as the proposed EVX radios. The only ting I'm worried about the SL300 is its output power is only 3W as opposed to the 4W. So n...

Radio receiver sensitivity question

I'm about to deploy over a 100 radios. I'm working with a local vendor and he brought out some equipment to do field test to see if we can get the needed coverage across the campus. He brought an XPR8400 repeater and 2 XPR7550 radios (UHF). Those were used for testing. Now, I've discussed with him t...

Re: Improve coverage

Thanks for these suggestions. Both the SLR1000 and the 3-directional yagi sounds good. We will do some field tests with the vendor and determine the best route.

Re: Improve coverage

The antenna for the repeater is outdoors, and is a long white stick antenna. About 5ft long. I hope this is a scientific-enough description :) This antenna is installed on the roof of a 10-story tall building, which is pretty good. The test radio is UHF and is Motorola XPR7550 so I believe it output...

Improve coverage

I'm about to deploy over a 100 Mototrbo radios, with a repeater. We have a campus with many buildings across many city blocks, including a warehouse 4 miles out. My vendor gave me a test repeater and 2 radios for site-survey. I got 100% coverage in most buildings on the campus and also out at the wa...
