Re: Resources for Info On GE Orions

The Orion is a cool radio. One of my favorites. The M7100 is newer and does share the same accessories as the Orion, like Control head, and cables. At my desk at work I currently have an Orion in a consolette monitoring the one of the local PDs that still use EDACS in my location.

Astro 25 TMS

So I'm in the process of setting up my VHF XTS 5000 for TMS. My VHF XTS does have APCO Packet Data, and is running the latest firmware. I have a UHF XTS 5000 that I have already set up for TMS. On my UHF I get the black IP icon. However when using the same exact settings on my VHF 5000 I get what ap...

The order is change the hardware then change the control head and then sync if needed.
Thanks!

XTL5000 W4 to O5

I have some parts on the way in to convert one of my XTL5000's from a W4 to a O5 head.

What is the proper sequence? Do I read the radio, change control head in CPS then write back then physically change the head?

Re: Looking for some advice.

A little update to this situation. The other day I was on the local repeater talking to another station about a public service event that is coming up that I'm the coordinator of. The other station who likes to take over comes on as well, the other station I was talking to acknowledge him and inform...

Re: WTF buy the Audio leveling feature

I have it enabled on my XPR3500 on digital, and what a difference it makes. Analog it sucks, but digital it works pretty good. I do not need to chase my volume anymore.

Re: Looking for some advice.

Just adding a little bit, and I can't seem to edit a post, : I think the idea of this operator being autistic/Aspergers does not jibe with him being a 'sensitive person.' But I still guess that he's rather lonely. He needs and wants friends. Be a friend, face to face, one on one. The fact that you'...

Re: Looking for some advice.

This is a club repeater, and he's a long time club member. It wouldn't be fair to do that, even though its annoying, he's not breaking any rules. He's really not being malicious, just wants to feel included. His feelings get hurt very easily so I'm trying to get some input on how to approach him sof...

Re: Looking for some advice.

looks like a job for HR :) I would wait until he logs in next time. When he does say hello "hi John how are you today". once the prelinaries are out of the way and he feels like he is participating continue on with the conversation that was in progress. If "John" wanders off topic when he unkeys re...

Looking for some advice.

I'm looking for some advice on how to approach one of our everyday users of the repeater. I have a tendency to come off rough at times when I get annoyed. This user listens to the repeater every day (not the issue) he likes to take part in conversations on the repeater (not the issue). The issue is ...

Re: Setting up Conventional Voting Scan.

What I did, I created my new scan list first, assigned the members. Then created my new conventional personality, and assigned that scan list to that personality. Then went to my zone and assigned those channels to the new personality. It is working on my XTS pretty good, I need to play around with ...

Re: Setting up Conventional Voting Scan.

Sorry for so many post back to back, I think I might have it figured out. I might of been doing things out of order which might of been causing me some problems with invalid fields. Now to mimic the same settings to my XTS and see if that works.

Re: Setting up Conventional Voting Scan.

Here are some screen shots. Now when I go to the zone to assign the channels to a the convention personality I have the vote scan list attached to, the list members are outlined red, and the frequencies in the zone get defaulted to 450.075 or something along those lines. These screen shots are befor...

Re: Setting up Conventional Voting Scan.

Will do. The channels I want to vote scan are in their own zone. The channels in that zone are currently assigned to the same conventional personality for local ham zone. I created the new list with voting scan, assigned the members. Invalid fields starting showing up when I created a new convention...
