Was it physically cold at the time? I have a friend whose XPR4550 display would do weird things when really cold. I don't believe there's a definitive fix and there might not have been enough complaints to Motorola to want to remedy it (especially now that they're discontinued).

NavyBOFH, all Astro Spectras are capable of narrowband (12.5 kHz channel bandwidth/2.5 kHz deviation) but not all are capable of 2.5 kHz channel steps. Only the newer ones are that are usually labeled as such.

Apologies for not remembering who to credit this to but, "Magnets belong on refrigerators!"

We keep some around for testing purposes but drill at every chance we get. Some customers are so set against it though that we usually find a way to use a glass-mount instead.

I'm quite certain they're not replace-able, at least you can't take it apart without tearing it up. When 5000s with broken PTTs come into our shop, we have to replace the entire housing.
