Re: MASTR III - General Opinion?

Thanks for the info. I went ahead on the deal, we'll see how it works with an MMDVM. Finally found the MASTR III R17 DOS programming software so now I can program it.

Additionally, I have a lead on a VHF R2 MASTR III, but not really interested in all the modification that's required.

MASTR III - General Opinion?

I've found what I think is a deal on a range 1 VHF MASTR III. It is an analog only one, model SXHMCX. I do plan on interfacing an MMDVM to it.

My question, what's everyone else's opinion on it for ham use? Are they decent repeaters?

Should I pass it and buy a Quantar instead?

Re: Resources for Info On GE Orions

The software it requires depends on the firmware version. It will either need ProGrammer or RPM. You can roll back firmware to ProGrammer if you can't get RPM. Feature codes can be viewed in the menu typically unless that's been disabled, then you have to read it with ProGrammer or RPM to figure the...

You are correct that it's a Midian.

Just went to their website and found out it's actually a TVS2 scrambler (it has ANI capability so that's what the data burst was about).

Thanks!

TK880 Option Board ID?

I'm programming some Kenwood TK880's for ham use for a friend. Noticed there was a data burst at the end of the transmissions even though I disabled all the fleetsync options. Opened up the radio to find this little option board installed. https://ibb.co/jULrsw https://ibb.co/bt8cXw https://ibb.co/h...

Re: HT600 Programming

I'm using a Motorola NAB6064B antenna. The directions that come with it explain how to stretch the coil out just slightly so it works better on 10m. They also explain how to cut it for 6m. It works really well and doesn't look too hamsexual.

I bought a 10m lowband one this year at Hamvention. They are GREAT! Slightly retuned the RX and it is fun to put on the table and listen to the distant repeaters come in.

Can't forget the useful HLN9742 flashing adapter https://mega.nz/#!ftEGXLoR!r_OsDI1SUaAPmhbWvm7w5zoGvhYLof4rsY2g7ONgUfg I can confirm this works. I just built it two months ago and successfully upgraded the firmware on two HT1250's using a RLN4008B RIB and RKN4074 cable Note this must be used with a...

Re: How well does the MMDVM really work?

https://wiki.brandmeister.network/index.php/Homebrew/MMDVM This is a good reference. It says the M1225 has an unstable BER on receive. Then again someone claims the GR1225 is works? I'm guessing you're having the issues with receive BER so I'd say a GR1225 doesn't work for RX. I can personally confi...

Re: How well does the MMDVM really work?

Well I've been farting around with getting it running on a GR1225 and have been having a nightmare of a time getting audio levels set to a point where the digital will reliably pass through. All audio levels set to "spec" using the tuning apps, the answer turn the dials until audio passes through. ...
