Re: Motorola APX Firmware 18 and above moving forward

I have not seen anything either at this end. We have a substantial fleet of APX and the EID method may not be practical if there is a major upgrade wanted. I guess it all depends on how the EID upgrade is configured. A radio by radio upgrade is not practical, any EID would have to be for a large (mo...

Re: Motorola APX Firmware 18 and above moving forward

Lets hope that Motorola makes it easy to get the EIDs without having to have MOL or an account.

Re: Motorola APX Firmware 18 and above moving forward

A step in the right direction. This will prevent older radios from being updated to newer codeplug/flash and firmware versions. DEPOT radios can be toolproofed futher. I dont think its appropriate to go into how this can be done. The use of depot has created all kinds of headaches the biggest being ...

Again Moto releases something not properly vetted. This is exactly why I dont use current releases on anything other that our service hardware.

Re: Astro Saber

Since the radio line is NLA and the firmware is free if you had MOL for the saber line. I would say that its ok to post it to a file sharing site and post the link.

Re: Interop Between Type I & II

Go strait to P25. Once they get used to the clarity over the analog things will go smoother.

Re: Odessey Control Head Discrepencies

I think the display on the decimal is from the character set on the Command board. In the few cases where I use a freq I just skip the decimal point. Check the board revisions, one will be a 'A' the other a 'C' or something similar. Its the same setting that forces the AS+ to all be in caps. The O s...

Re: APX 8500

I service several 8500s. They are just used on single bands right now (what a waste). They were bought for interop use where VHF and UHF systems are needed. Now there are some 800 systems so I guess someone was thinking ahead( ill pat myself on the back later). I have not looked into setting up a tri...

NAF scan on NXDN

Im researching if this is even possible with NXDN systems.

Im using Kenwood hardware. The local system is currently a type C system. It is not very active but the local bus service use it. P25 supports NAF so I am curious if there is a similar option in NXDN.

Re: Interop Between Type I & II

The TG info reference is easy. Its a simple counter. Each TG converts over so fleet 0 subfleet 0 would be TG 0, fleet 0 subfleet 1 would be TG 1 fleet 0 subfleet 2 would be TG 2. when you hit the may Tg for the fleet you continue on so fleet 1 subfleet 0 would be +1 from the last subfleet available ...

Re: Astro Spectra question

you should be able to use the 5.03 version. Unless the model number is a created one both versions should read the unit fine. No matter since you have been able to read the unit successfully.

Re: V16.0 and v2.9.0 on MOL

I forsee a real mess. Most service shops like to keep everything current but if they have to pay for firmware they may decide not to buy it or just buy every second one. This will get worse if they firmware has to be bought on a per unit basis.

I think I will sit back and watch and see what happens.

Re: Odessey Control Head Discrepencies

Its the control head type info. The w series uses the same line for zone and chan name. The O series has the extra line an a few more characters.
