R02.09.07 firmware

A new version of firmware has been released for repeaters. There is nothing new in it. So far it just looks like they cleaned up some of the code and improved the way a few sub routines are done.

Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

sadly Moto is depending on the vendors to verify functionality. be happy you didnt buy 100+ units to find out they dont work.

Re: Improve coverage

Unless its a 800 system you cant piggy back on it. Even then the amp modules are probably band passed. Again you have the concept right. The outside antenna is split into a RX and TX path. On UHF this would be EG 451. RX and 456 Tx for the portables. The protables Tx on 456 this is picked up by an i...

Re: Radio receiver sensitivity question

yes you got it. each repeater gives 2 slots 6 repeaters 6 x 2 = 12 slots. The whole thing works by having the repeaters being able to talk to each other so they know what slot is available and when its available. Making the system multi site is a bit more complex as each site needs to be able to com...

Re: Improve coverage

let us know what you find. I have also used a passive indoor outdoor antenna system to improve marginal coverage in a building like a warehouse/garage. Usually a single floor. The passive antenna is simply a 6-8 element yagi outside the building pointed at the system and an omni or 3 element inside ...

Re: Improve coverage

I was going to suggest a BDA but a potential cheaper faster fix may be to change from an Omni to a 3 element yagi. Point the yagi at the bad coverage area. a 3 element is not directional enough to radically cut down the coverage on the main campus but is directional enough to bring up the weaker cov...

Re: Favorite VHF Wideband antenna?

For some reason my dummy load is flat right across the band but it does not radiate very well.

Re: Problem with DEP-450 Roaming

Motos does address some of the fixes in the firmware release documents. Generally speaking if you have the document for any region the changes will be the same. First thing check the freq on the radio a little difference like a couple of hundred Hz can be all thats wrong. Compare it to the working r...

Re: Problem with DEP-450 Roaming

Are the units all at the same firmware generation both repeater and portable?

Re: Motorola APX Firmware 18 and above moving forward

Once the radio is upgraded the EID is useless anyway. In theory having the EID on one computer should be fine. Or am I missing something?

Re: Motorola APX Firmware 18 and above moving forward

I have not seen anything either at this end. We have a substantial fleet of APX and the EID method may not be practical if there is a major upgrade wanted. I guess it all depends on how the EID upgrade is configured. A radio by radio upgrade is not practical, any EID would have to be for a large (mo...

Lets hope that Motorola makes it easy to get the EIDs without having to have MOL or an account.

Re: Motorola APX Firmware 18 and above moving forward

A step in the right direction. This will prevent older radios from being updated to newer codeplug/flash and firmware versions. DEPOT radios can be toolproofed futher. I dont think its appropriate to go into how this can be done. The use of depot has created all kinds of headaches the biggest being ...

Re: FIRMWARE VERSION 17.01.01

Again Moto releases something not properly vetted. This is exactly why I dont use current releases on anything other that our service hardware.
